Should I Use LED Christmas Lights?

If you are like most families out there, chances are that you have not purchased a new set of Christmas lights for quite some many years. You have probably been using the exact same strings of lights for decades, slowly replacing bulb after bulb as you find them broken or burned out. By now you may have even spent so much money on additional bulbs and supplies for your aging Christmas lights that you could have purchased a whole new set. In any event, the time will soon come where you will have to part with your old Christmas lights in favor of a whole new set - but you may be surprised about the wide variety of choices that you will be faced with. A lot has changed since you last purchased a string of Christmas lights, and now you can not only find lights that are of the traditional style, but Christmas lights that are powered by LED bulbs.

So, when you are finally faced with the choice about what type of Christmas lights to purchase, what should you do? Should you go with the classic style bulbs or the high tech new LED bulbs for your next string of Christmas lights? Even though the LED Christmas lights are completely superior in every way, shape and form to traditional Christmas lights, there may still be a few reasons why you would want to stick with traditional lights. Hopefully by examining the pros and cons of each type of Christmas light we will be able to help you in your quest to find a brand new string of lights for either indoor or outdoor use.

LED Christmas lights are a relatively new product on the Christmas lights market - but that certainly does not mean that they have not been tried and tested. In fact, they have undergone so much testing that just about each and every string of LED Christmas lights is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use - meaning that you can use the same sting of LED Christmas lights on your tree one year or on your eaves the next. If you are the type of person who likes to contribute to conservation and the environment, you will no longer have to feel guilty about running your Christmas lights for a few months in the wintertime either. LED Christmas lights have been shown to use far less energy than traditional Christmas lights - lowering your electric bill and decreasing your dent on the ecosystem.

With so many benefits, what could possibly be wrong with LED Christmas lights? Well, if you are investing in all new lights for either indoor or outdoor use, LED Christmas lights are great. They shine brightly and have a much lower rate of burning out after too much use. However, their brightness is both a blessing and a curse because if you try to mix a string of LED Christmas lights with traditional lights, the display will look incomplete and incorrect because the LED Christmas lights burn so much brighter than traditional lights. So, buy LED Christmas lights if you want a whole new set of lights, but if you are adding to your old set of traditional lights, stick with old style Christmas lights.
